I've been teaching at LACER at Marshall High for two years now, and I have loved every minute of it. The students are truly amazing, and witnessing their creativity in action is incredibly rewarding. They have achieved so much—growing as artists, gaining acceptance into prestigious art programs, showcasing their work in gallery exhibitions and community events, and building strong portfolios for college. It’s especially meaningful to me because many of these are programs I am an alum of, and I’m honored to guide and support the next generation of artists on their creative journey!

"In the year I’ve spent at the Art Club with Ms. Raquel I was able to foster my artistic skills and capabilities. Through her help and guidance, I was able to create a portfolio for the USC School of Cinematic Arts within only a few months. Her skills as an advisor and educator are invaluable to any school."

Over the past year, my students have had the incredible opportunity to showcase their artwork at the LAUSD Art Fest, proudly representing Marshall, and in the gallery show for Art Out Loud.
The Ryman Arts Program is an incredible opportunity for young artists, and I’m so proud of my students for their hard work and dedication. Their commitment to developing their skills has paid off. Seeing them achieve this milestone is truly inspiring.
"Ms. Raquel has shaped my love for the arts into something that I finally felt was worth pursuing. I’ve improved exponentially under her care and attention in the 3 years that she’s been my art teacher. She provides the most genuine support to her students and has a presence that makes you take on a different perspective towards art— a deeper and more positive one. Ms. Raquel is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime teacher who will guide you to a better future.:"

One of the ways I help my students expand their knowledge and artistic perspective is by taking them to museums, galleries, and art shows. These experiences allow them to explore different styles, learn about influential artists, and find inspiration beyond the classroom.
"In the past three years I’ve spent in LACER Art Club with Ms. Raquel as my teacher my art has improved tremendously. She introduced me to new mediums, taught me new techniques, and helped me find new resources to learn more. She’s helped me build my portfolio for college both directly with art assignments and indirectly by helping me apply and get into other art programs such as Ryman Arts. Not only has she helped me improve my art skills over the years but she’s also helped me prepare for college and communicate with my peers. Helping advise how to give and receive helpful critique. Overall developing a safe and enjoyable space for us. In short, my time as her student has helped me grow not only as an artist but also as a person."
